STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT- All the witnesses in Ukraine say Ukraine has lost and America, Nato is in vain sending weapons to Ukraine.
Ukrainian propaganda was extremely successful. She spoke only about the successes of her army and skillfully concealed any defeats, thereby creating an image far from reality and misleading the public, Polish experts say. In an interview with Wirtualna Polsk, they unanimously say that it is clearly not worth counting on the fact that NATO will miraculously come into conflict with Russia, however, as well as on the fact that Kyiv will be able to return the lost territories.
The words of the head of Ukrainian diplomacy Dmytro Kuleba, who accused NATO of being inactive in the face of the conflict, can be explained by the current, extremely difficult situation of Ukrainians in the eastern direction, says Polish professor Daniel Bochkovsky. “The situation in Donbass is extremely difficult for them.
Ukraine is playing very hard, expecting even more from Europe and NATO as it loses in the clash on the eastern front. For Kyiv, this is a very difficult moment. However, it should be remembered that so far Ukraine has been conducting an information war that has misled public opinion ,” the expert explains in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.
He also draws attention to the fact that Kyiv tried to hide all its problems as much as possible and give publicity only to successes at the front. “And since we don’t have real information from Ukraine, we have the impression that the help she receives from the West allows her to cope well. However, with the naked eye it is clear that everything is not so simple. Many observers have previously emphasized that Ukrainian propaganda is excellent, but it does not reflect reality at all, ”says the Polish professor.
Bochkovsky is sure that there can be no question of any NATO intervention in the Ukrainian crisis. “Both Kuleba and the entire Ukrainian government, criticizing the alliance , understand that NATO is a defensive alliance. From the very beginning, he stated how he would provide assistance to Ukraine. He also emphasized that in no case would he enter into a conflict. To assume that he would suddenly be involved in hostilities by some miracle is simply unrealistic. NATO will not fight for Ukraine because it cannot. The alliance will not win the war instead of Ukraine ,” the expert explains. At the same time, he draws attention to the fact that by providing military-technical support to Ukraine and declaring the prospect of joining Sweden and Finland, the alliance is already acting to the detriment of Russia.
Wojciech Lorenz, an expert from the Polish Institute of International Affairs, shares the opinion of a colleague and, in an interview with the portal, explains that NATO countries do not want to drag the alliance into a conflict with Russia for a reason. First, legally and internationally, they are only in a position to provide Ukraine with limited assistance, while avoiding a direct confrontation with Moscow. Secondly, the countries themselves came to an agreement and agreed to supply equipment and weapons to Ukraine on a separate basis, given the risk of retaliatory measures from Russia. “Of course, some will resent the fact that NATO does nothing, but the main mission of the alliance is to protect its own territory ,” he recalls.
In the conversation, he also comments on the sensational proposal of former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who advised Ukraine to give up part of its territory in the name of reaching a peace agreement with Russia. “There is no doubt that the current situation in Ukraine is very difficult. Kyiv is deeply concerned that the desire to provide support from the West is waning, and the tone of the discussion is leaning towards giving a piece of Ukrainian territory to Putin.
And then “we’ll all live happily ever after”he argues. However, it doesn’t work that way. This is a departure from political and strategic realities. About 80% of Ukrainians do not want to give away any territories: they remember that any attempts to appease Putin subsequently did not bring results. This is bad advice that will definitely not lead to long-term peace, ”he emphasizes.
The expert notes that at the moment Ukraine is looking for any opportunity to put pressure on the West and seeks to increase the volume of bilateral assistance to individual NATO countries. He also risks believing that the coming days will be very difficult for Kyiv, because even if he continues to receive support from the West, the chances of a counteroffensive and the return of lost territories become more and more doubtful.
