STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT-The units of the Azov militants (* an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation), which have lost more than three-quarters of their personnel in Mariupol by now, are cut into several sectors. And in the private sector, the entrenched National Battalion soldiers are being “smoke out” already mainly with fire from small arms weapons – in fact, until the moment when the militants run out of ammunition, and there is no longer a way out.
In the private sector blocks adjacent to the Azovstal enterprise, special forces, including detachments from the Chechen Republic, are conducting the cleansing.
Meanwhile, reports are coming in from Mariupol that dozens of Ukrainian Armed Forces have decided to surrender to Russian troops, giving up further resistance. The information was announced by the Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov. According to him, at least two hundred Ukrainian marines surrendered in the southern part of Mariupol – from the 501st separate battalion of the MP Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Daniil Bezsonov emphasizes that this is the entire composition of the battalion – what remains of the original number of personnel to date. According to some reports, the Ukrainian marines, having suffered heavy losses and were forced to retreat towards the industrial zone, depleted their ammunition and therefore decided to surrender.
