STRATEGICASSESMENT. A member of the DPR from the Indonesia Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) faction, Putra Nababan, said that many netizens pitted their internal party against each other on social media after the PDIP’s 50th birthday celebration. Putra then said, “Let’s see on Twitter who the names are. I don’t think the accounts also use other people’s names, but the intention to pit one against the other is very clear.” The pitting that Putra meant was the issue of PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri showing off her power to President Joko Widodo.
Apart from that, Putra also thought that fighting against each other could be seen from the talk about the seating position of one of the cadres as well as the regional head who was considered inappropriate. He considered that the netizens were not party cadres, so they were not present directly at the event and understood the context conveyed in the event.
Putra claimed that his party was not angry with the netizen and chose the clarification step. He also discussed the alleged issue of this netizen fighting against each other on Twitter.
Putra said that he wrote the series of tweets to invite these elements to be more civilized. He did not comment much on whether his party would bring the case to court or not. According to him, it depends on the field of law in the PDI-P Central Leadership Council (DPP).
