Deputy Chairperson of the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar) Nurul Arifin emphasized that his party will nominate Chairperson Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate in the upcoming presidential election. Although based on the survey results, Airlangga was not included in the popular candidate category.
Initially, Nurul alluded to the popularity of the figures who were candidates for the upcoming 2024 presidential candidate. She was surprised that many were amazed by the popularity of presidential candidates based on survey results, but it must be seen the capabilities and competencies of these candidates.
For Nurul, the survey is not a measuring tool for choosing a presidential candidate but rather an evaluation material. According to him, the survey could be the result of an order.
Nurul said the track record should be used as an assessment. Nurul Arifin who was known as an actress said Golkar was not affected by the survey results in determining the presidential candidate.
“I want to say that if we want to be critical of being smart thinkers, that track record should be an assessment. From us, the Golkar party is not affected by the survey results regarding popularity and electability. Because we want to learn from each other and criticize whether this is appropriate or not. This is like a bubble just not included in that framework or what,” she said. Nurul then alluded to Airlangga’s performance. Even though it’s not perfect, Nurul said Golkar wants to present a presidential candidate who can answer problems and provide the best solutions.
“Well, if I look at the many candidates, it is clear that our chairman is without being subjective, but we will see and analyze together, I want to be elated. We will analyze what the results of his work are and where the pluses and minuses are. Indeed, nothing is perfect, we want the best can solve the problem and can answer the problem with the best solution,” she added.
