STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT-Countries must unite to create a “humanitarian bridge to break the siege imposed on the people in the Gaza Strip”, Jordan’s King Abdullah II told the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh yesterday.
Stressing the need to “find a real political horizon to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, as the only way to achieve peace, stability and security in the region,” King Abdullah called on “brotherly and friendly countries to participate in launching a humanitarian bridge to break the siege imposed on the people in the Gaza Strip, and deliver emergency aid to the sector that is suffering a humanitarian disaster.”
The international community’s failure to stop the Israeli war on Gaza has led to its escalation against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank, as well as against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and the launching of a war against Lebanon, he added.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman stressed the need to “continue joint efforts to establish a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

Bin Salman has also reiterated rejection of the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, denounced Israel’s banning of aid group UNRWA and the obstruction of relief organisations from delivering aid to Palestinians in Gaza, condemned the Israeli military aggression against Lebanon and rejected attacks on Iranian territory.
In his speech, the Saudi Crown Prince has also stressed that “Israel’s continued crimes against innocent people and continued violation of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is a derogation of the Palestinian National Authority’s pivotal role in all Palestinian territories, which will undermine efforts aimed at obtaining the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights and establishing peace in the region.”
The Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit kicked off yesterday, with the participation of leaders including the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and the First Vice President of Iran, Mohammad Reza.
