STRATEGICASSESMENT. Deputy Chairman of the People’s Wave Party (Gelora) Fahri Hamzah was furious with Network for Democracy and Electoral Integrity (Netgrit) Executive Director Hadar Nafis Gumay who accused his party of being passed as a participant in the 2024 election.
Fahri assessed that there was a structured, systematic and massive effort by the Civil Society Coalition to Guard Clean Elections, which was driven by Hadar to kill the Gelora Party so that it could not take part in the 2024 elections.
“We criticize the old election system, but instead we conspired with old players. Gelora Party is not afraid to face their conspiracy. They are angry because they failed to stop us, now they want open war. Come on!,” said Fahri.
Fahri admitted that he was surprised by the steps taken by the Civil Society Coalition to Guard Clean Elections in reporting the issue of the KPU’s alleged passage of his party to the DPR’s Commission II last Wednesday (11/1). Moreover, in their report they brought the names of the Palace, the Minister of Home Affairs, to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
He accused Hadar Gumay Cs of bringing in the hidden agenda of certain businessmen and conglomerates because they were afraid of the idea of total change being brought about by the Gelora Party.
Fahri said that Hadar and his colleagues actually wanted to protect certain parties, which actually did not qualify as participants in the 2024 Election. According to him, the more the Gelora Party was ‘beaten’ and pressured, the more the Gelora Party’s victory would be seen.
Previously, the Civil Society Coalition to Guard Clean Elections showed screenshots of conversations showing allegations of intervention by the Palace and ministers against the KPU to allow Gelora Party to become a participant in the 2024 Election at a meeting at Commission II of the DPR, last Wednesday (11/1).
Hadar also revealed screenshots of WhatsApp messages from KPUD members who were uneasy with the RI KPU instructions. “In the Sipol system, the order is to help political parties Gelora Party, yes. It needs to be carried out in 24 provinces. And there are in each province how many other urban districts that must MS [qualify] from that party,” said Hadar.
KPU chairman Hasyim Asyari has denied accusations that they had forced and intimidated KPUD members to pass certain parties as contestants for the 2024 election.
