STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT. The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah revealed that there has been an increase in the number of work accidents, including work-affected diseases, over the past three years.
Based on data compiled from the annual BPJS Employment report, the Minister of Manpower conveyed the importance of implementing occupational safety and health (K3).
“Based on this data, it is an indication that the implementation of K3 must be more of a concern and a priority for the world of work in Indonesia,” he said at the “National K3 Month Commemoration” in Sukabumi, West Java, Thursday, January 12, which was confiscated by Antara.
He detailed that BPJS Ketenagakerjaan data stated that the number of work accidents reached 221,740 cases in 2020. That number increased to 234,370 cases in 2021 and 265,334 cases as of November 2022.
For this reason, Ida invites and encourages more and more companies to implement the Work Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) consistently in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
“So that the culture of K3 is attached to every individual who participates in the company and the realization of increased work productivity,” he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Manpower in commemoration of the 2023 National K3 Month carries the big theme The realization of K3- Empowered Work to Support Business Sustainability in Each Workshop. National K3 Month is celebrated every January 12 to February 12. This year, one of the focuses raised by the Ministry of Manpower is the handling of tuberculosis (TBC) in the workplace, considering that Indonesia is still in 2nd place with the largest TBC case in the world according to WHO Global TBC Report 2021 data.
