STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT. House Commission I Chair Meutya Hafid warned that the new Indonesian capital of Nusantara faces a number of threats due to its geographical location, including its proximity to the potential conflict zone of the South China Sea. She warned that intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) can reach the Indonesian capital.
She also warned of other possible threats because the capital is close to the flight information regions (FIRs) of neighboring cities like Singapore; Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia; and Manila in the Philippines. She said Nusantara lies in the terrorist transit triangle because it borders the Philippines and Malaysia, particularly in the Sulu Sea.
